Using Google or Yelp Reviews
Allow users to display Google or Yelp reviews for locations.
|Requirements:Available in Connect and Optimize subscriptions, and as an add-on to the Find Subscription. Google and Yelp reviews require use of your own API key. Also See: Add a Google Maps API Key|
Google or Yelp reviews allows Admins to configure locations to display either Google or Yelp reviews on results and landing pages. When a location is enabled for reviews, people will see an average rating of submitted reviews on the results list and landing pages, and can link to the full reviews on Google or Yelp. Google Reviews require you to use your own Google API key with the Places and Geocoding APIs enabled. See Add a Google Maps API Key for more information.
There are a few steps to configuring and managing reviews. In summary, you’ll need to:
- Enable the Reviews module
- Configure Review Options
- Enable locations to allow reviews
- Enable an interface(s) to display reviews
To begin, enable the Reviews module from Settings > Set Up > Modules. Next, go to the Options tab under Settings to configure Review Options.
Configure Review Options
To enable Google Reviews, select Allow Google Reviews from the options. To enable Yelp Reviews, select Allow Yelp Reviews from the options. You can only use one or the other, and both work similarly.
Configure Locations to Display Reviews
On the Location Details page, enter a Google or Yelp PlaceID. The field is near the bottom of the page.
If you don’t know the PlaceID, you can look it up using our location match tool. Click the LocationID link to get started, then start typing a place name or address. Select one from the list of choices and click the Match button to automatically populate the field. If you don’t see a match, the location has probably not been verified by Google. The location will need to be verified first:
Enable an Interface(s) to Display Reviews
On the interface, expand the Display accordion, then select the Display Reviews options under Bullseye Reviews
Putting it all together
When reviews are fully configured, locations that have configured a PlaceID will display an average of review ratings on search results and a link to the full review on Google or Yelp.
Location landing pages display reviews snippets and a link to read more.
That’s it! Depending on your choice, locations that have a Google Place ID or a Yelp ID will now display reviews on their results and local pages.
